replace the time-con-suming bob-line and dial
gauge methods, and

increase accuracy. The system is based upon the
proven PERMALIGN
laser position monitor, which simply
clamps to
the shaft so that its beam reflects off a pivoted
mirror that always remains horizontal. Plug the
monitor into a power supply and a PC, and an easy-
to-use program guides you through the whole
measurement and alignment process. Measurements
can be made at any number of points along the
machine shaft for investigation
of straightness
and rigidity. Thrust bearing and centering bearing
corrections are automatically calculated and
displayed, allowing a team to quickly align the
shaft in a matter of hours instead of days!
Furthermore, data is
stored for an ISO-compliant traceable record of
your alignment activities, and customized reports
can be generated at the touch of a
key.
Resolution is a remarkable 2 microns/metre
(0.02 mil/foot), exceeding NEMA and IEEE
standards. And since measurements can be averaged
over an adjustable period of time, the system is
unaffected by vibration, allowing adjacent
machines to remain in operation.
The sensor
components are also available in intrinsically
safe versions for use in explosive
